\u201cThere are, mendicants, these two gifts.\u00a0A gift of material things and a gift of the teaching.\u00a0The better of these two gifts is the gift of the teaching.<\/p>\n

There are these two kinds of sharing.\u00a0Sharing material things and sharing the teaching.\u00a0The better of these two kinds of sharing is sharing the teaching.<\/p>\n

There are these two kinds of support.\u00a0Support in material things and support in the teaching.\u00a0The better of these two kinds of support is support in the teaching.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Buddha spoke this matter.\u00a0On this it is said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is said to be the supreme, ultimate gift,
\nand the sharing praised by the Buddha;
\nwhat wise and sensible person, confident in the best of fields,
\nwould not sow a such timely gift?<\/p>\n

For those who are diligent in the dispensation of the Holy One,
\nboth those who speak and those who listen,
\nconfident in the dispensation of the Holy One,
\nsuch a gift purifies the highest goal.\u201d<\/p>\n

This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.<\/p>\n
