ขันติ คือ ความอดทน เป็นตบะอย่างยิ่ง
พระพุทธเจ้าทั้งหลายตรัสว่า นิพพานเป็นสิ่งที่ยอดยิ่ง
ผู้ทำร้ายผู้อื่น ผู้เบียดเบียนผู้อื่น
ไม่ชื่อว่าเป็นบรรพชิต ไม่ชื่อว่าเป็นสมณะเลย.
การไม่ทำบาปทั้งปวง
การทำกุศลให้ถึงพร้อม
การทำจิตของตนให้ผ่องใส
นี้เป็นคำสั่งสอนของพระพุทธเจ้าทั้งหลาย.
การไม่กล่าวร้าย
การไม่ทำร้าย
ความสำรวมในปาติโมกข์
ความเป็นผู้รู้ประมาณในโภชนะ
การอยู่ในเสนาสนะที่สงัด
การประกอบความเพียรในอธิจิต
นี้เป็นคำสั่งสอนของพระพุทธเจ้าทั้งหลาย.”
